A game can be beautifully designed, technically stable, commercially promising and almost completely invisible. That’s one of the less romantic realities of independent development. We often talk about funding as though money is the final missing ingredient. Give a studio enough development time, help it finish the game, and the market will eventually recognise its brilliance. Unfortunately, the market isn’t a kindly wizard who appears when the final build reaches version 1.0. Somebody still has to find the players, meet the publishers, explain the project, test the pitch and convince people that the game deserves space in an industry already overflowing with new releases...
