Diegetic Context in Game Design: A Core Pillar of Immersive Design

Throughout my game design career, I've continued to develop and deeply explore a paradigm that I've dubbed - Immersive Design. Within this paradigm lies a crucial concept I refer to as Diegetic Context. This concept is centered around the seamless weaving of game mechanics, systems, and features into the very fabric of the game's narrative and environment. By integrating every element so that it feels inherently part of the game's universe, developers are able to create a stronger bond between the player and the game world, effectively blurring the distinction between the player's actions and the unfolding story.
